Tomb Raider "A survivor is born"

At this month’s E3 gathering, we have seen the announcements of many games; including the new Tomb Raider. Even though this is the ninth game within the Tomb raider series, however; Crystal Dynamics (creators of previous Tomb Raider games such as Legend and Underworld) and publishers Square Enix say that this game will simply be known as “Tomb Raider.†Although, it is associated with the "A survivor is born" logo.

The game initiates with Lara Croft shipwrecked on an island off the coast of Japan (as seen in the trailer). Although she has to assist her mentor, Conrad Roth, who was searching for Kublai Kahn’s lost fleet. The producers proclaim that they will involve more dangerous and extremely challenging situations that Lara will have to overcome, not anything seen before. Another change to the new release is that the previous voice actor, “Keeley Hawes†(who has played Lara Croft’s character in every Tomb Raider game), will not be in this piece as we hear a brand new voice come upon the character.

The basics behind the game will still be included with a promise of puzzles, exploration, combat and action, which make the foundation of the game. Conversely, the situations faced by Lara will become more realistic and more fully integrated into the survival story. The gameplay will obtain some features of a ‘horror’ style, but the game will continue to be a ‘survival-adventure.’ The game consist of a more ‘free-roam’ type of adventure style as the players can explore the island’s diverse locations freely and unlock new areas with the improvable skills and equipment of Lara. Although there will still be one main plot and one ending to the storyline.

Weapons include a bow, pistol, shotgun and an ice axe; as well as other tools obtained during the adventure. The old auto-targeting system, as seen in previous games, is going to be completely revolutionised with the introduction of a free-aim structure. As on any adventure, it will be necessary to gather multiple resources to ensure survival on the island, including food, water and medical supplies.

The developers also present a new hint system to guide players on where to go and how to get there if they feel frustrated being unable to continue. It will be called “survival instinct,†and will enable players to spot clues and interactive elements in the game with the simple press of a button

The game will be single-player only and will be rated M (Mature). It will become available for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on the release date of March 5, 2013.
