Tanks lay in wait behind an apartment complex as your riflemen take positions within. Four hundred meters to the west gun ships are engaged with enemy artillery placements, having little resistance to impede their progress. Your reserves slowly come to life at the front, moving for the final goal, crushing anything in their way. This is your war, and your voice is at the strategic core. This is Tom Clancy's: EndWar. Endwar is a real time strategy game released November 4th, 2008 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Windows as well as having a turn based counterpart released for the Playstation Portable and Nintendo DS. While very underestimated , Ubisoft Shanghai had done a wonderful job with the game play of Endwar and systems which determined the outcome of combat in the game. Though this game has plenty more to offer than game mechanics, packing along a number of features that captivated it's players. Endwar's back story was a rich story that, if followed closely enough, would prove to keep you entertained the entire play through. The year is 2016. The world's oil supply has been crippled with the nuclear attack on Saudi Arabia, killing six million. This results in economic crisis around the world, sending the price of oil in the United States to $800 a barrel. The European nations, in an attempt to keep power, combined into a single European state known as the European Federation (UF). While some countries such as Ireland and Great Britain managed to stay independent, others were not so fortunate. Smaller European countries simply collapsed and were absorbed by the Russians. Fast forward to the year 2020. World War III has spread across the globe between three major factions. The United States, headed by General Scott Mitchell, a former Ghost Recon agent who now leads the Joint Strike Force (JSF). The Russian Federation Spetsnaz , who have taken the majority of Europe, and composed mostly of veterans from Russia's previous conflicts. And finally, the European Federation, or better known as the European Enforcers. They are made up of Europe's most elite counter-terrorist group and are fighting on two fronts against the Americans and Russians. So now the war is in your hands, to choose a faction to fight for, and to take global domination in World War III. The online consist of players choosing countries, and fighting others in selected territories. Once one day has passed, the territory is passed to the faction with the most wins, and the next target is turned into the battle field for the Commanders. Unfortunately, the online servers for this game have been shut down some time ago, but a captivating single player still sits right at home, along with still having the ability to play custom matches against your friends.
