The console was announced on July 3, 2012. The console's engineering team was hand picked by Muffi Ghadiali, the project's product manager. The Ouya project was funded by Kickstarter raising $8 million. The Ouya's hardware will be easily opened up, meaning a standard screwdriver will open it. That said, any Ouya owner can mod the console. All of the games on the Ouya console will have a Free-to-try aspect or at least a free trial. As of right now Ouya has confirmed that they are simply not ready to release due to the console lacking online features, such as friends list and online play. Even with that being said That said, in the upcoming month's months after the release, Ouya developers are planning to have all of the online features ready to go, if not ready by release.
