Yeah, it's a Japanese/Swedish celebration, this year was the 20th year of celebrations in Stockholm and it was bigger than usual due to this 150 year anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Japan (I believe it's tied to the Meiji reformation in Japan, learnt a lot about it when we went to Japan last year). But usually the cherries would have started blossoming already in Stockholm (and it was more than a month since the Sakura in Japan), but this year has been colder than in a long while and spring didn't really hit until a week or two ago. So the buds are just breaking into bloom right now, it was absolutely beautiful. Then there were lots of cultural happenings, and small shops and stands, and Japanese food and sweets, and lots of people. Made me really miss Japan again though  I just should've stayed lol.

Now, this is the first OTM for several of you here in the staff, so now's the time to ask any and all questions that you have on how we handle this! If there's anything, just poke us and we'll help you out

With that said, I'll give you guys the run-down on how we do this. So the nominations are open for app 10 days, and close on midnight when the month ends. As soon as we can after the nominations end, all eligible nominations are compiled and posted up in a topic here in the staff section called the vote assist. Nominations may be ineligible due to not following the correct and given format well enough, due to being a simple copy of someone else's nomination or because the member is no longer an active member in KSI. On rare occasions specific members may be disqualified (e.g. if it is discovered that they are coercing people to nominate them for an award), but thankfully that is an extremely rare occasion. 

As soon as the vote assist is posted, we also post the voting topic, where you as staff submit your votes for each and every category. This topic is open for 48h and you must submit your votes within this time. You will base your votes on who has the strongest nomination(s) in each category, and you will be asked for a sentence or two explaining why you chose to vote as you did. In the case of you yourself being nominated in a category, you can obviously not vote for yourself, instead you will make an objective evaluation of who had the best nominations in the category.

After the voting closes, I will compile the votes, and in cases of tiebreaks, I as head will decide on who ultimately wins in the category this month. 

We also expect you all to put aside your personal relationships and feelings during this process, we do not tolerate favouritism, and if there are several cases of favouritism being found, it may lead to you loosing your position on the staff. 

Now that may seem heavy or harsh, but I'm just trying to make sure to give you as extensive information as possible, and explain why we work as we do. We have to have certain safeguards in place, so that there is no favouritism, and so that we can show that winners are based on facts and actual quality nominations rather than personal feeling when/if allegations of favouritism are made.  Now, I'm not worried about you guys not being objective, I know you'll all use your heads in this and do a great job! With that said, are there any remaining questions or issues on how we'll do this?

How was the weekend? :) Not sure about you guys, but it's a long weekend for us here in Sweden as tomorrow is a holiday, so I'm visiting with my sister  Nice to have a few extra days off
