Same, I get to the point where they want to like burn me at the stake for bringing up OTMs lol. It needs to come from leadership too, some people dont care until someone who "matters" tells them to. And even then, this month our Div leader pushed it, and then only like 4 people in the div still did it.

That's exactly how it was for us

there is over saturation on otm's, i wonder if we could redesign it or reconstruct it to make it a faster time frame or a better system....idk but i agree with you guys,.... what if we did quarterly otm's, like DIv of the Q1....idk that sounds like a Poop name but we need to brain storm a bit to make it more important and or less regularly or something, i am sure it is fun for some of the lower ranks, but beyond a specific rank it feels like we just did last months and this month is already starting

maybe move to bi-monthly awards

I think we should. I know we have talked about doing OTMs one month, and then DOTMs the next, which would split it up some at least. We have enough AAP staff members to assign a staff member to get with each divs leadership for their choices. Maybe we should look into that again? Also gets more of the little guys awards, may get them more interested in the AAP in general.

The DOTMs are currently down due to issues with permissions, and Scotland have tried to get this fixed for well over a year, so they'll be implemented as soon as we (hopefully) get that taken care of.

Obviously we need to revise and review the OTMs and the activity. However, while I see some validity to the idea of oversaturation and "over-nagging", my experience from clanops is that it is almost entirely about how we talk about it and try to encourage other members. First off, I'm disappointed that we don't see more "word of mouth messages" over xbox. I don't see the messages getting sent out any more (but maybe it's just that no one wants to talk to me any more XD). That is one of the best ways to get the word out to regular members that aren't super active either here on the forums or in squad meetings etc., without them necessarily being fluff. Second of all, if all we do is say - go vote, spread the word, go vote, spread the word - then obviously it'll have no or a negative effect. We need to show members WHY we have the OTMs, not just say they should use it. In my time as an officer, general and a 7, it was a motivational tool to encourage positive competition, and as such it worked wonders. Closely related to this is overall participation in the programme as a whole and forums activity in general.

I guess that the conclusion is, that we as members have so much of the power here. It's not just to act as a parrot and repeat "The XXX OTM nominations are now open until date so and so, head on over to the forums and nominate those you think have made an outstanding job this month". We need to be mindful of how and why we do what we do. Why do we have the OTMs? Why do we have the OTYs? Why do we have the AAP to begin with? And when it all becomes about quantity and new shiny stuff, people will gradually loose interest and both participation and quality suffers. If we instead focus on the quality, the acknowledgement of the great and outstanding, and use it as a positive means or a carrot, our members will be that much more inclined to not just participate and repeat "I believe KSI so-and-so should win because they are awesome", but also put in some thought and quality to the nominations.

Now, I know that these things wouldn't automatically solve all the problems of the world and that everything is more complex than this, but I think that if we don't provide the best possible foundation, help and encouragement to the community as a whole, we are doomed to fail no matter the drastic changes we make or implement. And this is true not just here in the AAP, but in most other aspects of KSI as well as many other endeavors in life :) Just my quick post-workout two cents on the matter :P

Right, and I think one of the biggest things I see is people dont enjoy the forums. What people are fed, or at least what I've seen, is you MUST be here if you're an officer. You MUST sign up for this or that on the forums. Even some of the forum workshops I've seen explain the forums, and that you can find out information here, and what the departments are, etc. I get why we do that obviously, just some members only concerned about the clan ops don't.

What I don't see is a majority of the community on the forums of their own volition. Not just our section, but the forums in general. It's an acquired taste, and I think there has to be a more influential way to show members and make them believe the forums are a tool that can add quality to their KSI experience, and not just some place where you post "official not fun stuff".

Just kind of venting. Not that we as the AAP are responsible directly for that, but just really sort of the frustration that I just feel most members don't give the forums a chance.

I know just what you mean, and I recognise it myself. During my time in GZ we had some pretty good times with people coming on here and enjoying it, but then over time that changed into a must, and it just made me so sad, because of the wonderful and fun place this can be when people come voluntarily.

I think it's the leader's fault. We do have the lack of leadership nominating members or leadership nominating those members that are liked by them which causes scrutiny and discouragement. I am at fault for not nominating and encouraging members by example. I will change this. But it starts at the top.

Alright crazies. I am set up with the new PC monitor so I am forums ready again!

On a side note, I am reentering Clan Ops, what should I be expecting from these crazy kids?

Literally, not much is the same to me. All the info and all hasn't changed much, but I feel like the atmosphere is a TON different than last time around.

Guys, I just had a thought. Most divisional leadership and squad leadership don't have any outstanding service awards, why?

Because theyre not outstanding? :lolu:Honestly not sure, could be people don't think upward about getting their leaders recognized for achievements. Could be members don't think their leaders do much to deserve it. There is also always the possibility just that most members arent aware of what it takes for the award (yes, I know you can find that but people are lazy)

Alot of people don't think of nominating people for anything but otm awards. I think it should be explained more to people about the separate awards that you can get, I feel like it might boost up the activity within the aap section. Idk about anyone else but when I first originally joined KSI and learned about the award system I strived to earn and nominate others for those awards. Think that's what we need in KSI more recognition of leadership and also officers/lower ranking members within the community.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up, I will be out of town Friday-Sunday so if the July OTM votes go up this weekend I won't have a chance to vote until Sunday night (maybe) or Monday morning. Let me know if that will be an issue
